SARPAD'S Description

The Centre is a non-profit organization created in 1980 by a resident of Côtes-des-Neiges, under the name of SARPAD (Soutien Aux Responsables de Personnes Âgées à Domicile). A couple of years later, the Centre was re-named, and is now known as the “SARPAD Volunteer Centre (Services d'Accompagnement et de Répit aux Personnes Âgées à Domicile)”. SARPAD is very active in the community and works in collaboration with the public health care services and other organizations of the area. It is well recognized and has an important role in the home-care support services for the elderly of Côte-des-Neiges, Outremont and Town of Mount-Royal.

There are three employees to coordinate the activities. It is also managed by a Board of Directors, composed of eight volunteers elected at the Annual General Meeting. The council meets monthly, from September until May. In 2011-2012, the members of the council are the following ones :

  • Mr. Marcel Barchechat, President
  • Mrs. Ramona Mincic, Vice President
  • Mr. Bertin Giasson, Treasurer
  • Mr. Ivan Rochette, Secretary
  • Mr. Marcel Routhier, Councillor
  • Mrs. Alice Châtel, Councillor
  • Mrs. Madeleine Charbonneau, Councillor

Our Mission

The Volunteer Centre SARPAD helps: older, less functional adults and caregivers responsible for a disabled person or older adult. Our main mission is to help elderly people to remain at home and facilitate access to public services. We offer various services corresponding to their needs. SARPAD is also a caring intergenerational and multiethnic support network.

The services are offered to more than five hundred clients in a district where the seniors community is increasing every year. SARPAD reflects the cultural diversity of its community and is proud to include clients and volunteers from every ethnic origin.

Last update : August 2011

In 2010 SARPAD will count 30 years of services for the CDN community.
